But she wasn’t alone.

The actress enlisted a team of trainers in her hometown of Sydney as well as her work base in Los Angeles.

Her LA trainer was none other than Gunnar Peterson, known as the chief of athletics at F45 Training.

Gunnar has also trained celebrities including Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez.

The trainer recently spoke out about the actress’s approach in the gym, her mindset, and diet.

Gunnar praised the actress for finding time to work out, despite her busy schedule.

Speaking with The Sun, Gunnar outlined the mixture of training that Rebel focuses on.

“It’s a gentle scientific mixture of HIIT (high-intensity interval training) cardio, resistance, and movement patterns – and you’re going to see improvement across your life,” he explained.

“So you’ll be on the treadmill, squatting, pushing a sled, doing dumbbell rows – think two to three sets of eight to 12 reps across five different exercises.”

This sort of high-intensity training is often seen in F45 classes, available all across Australia.

If you prefer to work out at home, the following exercises are a useful full-body workout:

For those beginning their weight loss journeys, Gunnar suggests starting slow – even working out once a week.

He explained that when workouts are changed too much, it simply doesn’t stick.

Rebel herself shared in October 2020 her other secret weapon for losing weight, and it’s simpler than you think: walking.

On an episode of Apple Fitness+ Time to Walk podcast, she shared some advice given to her by a doctor.

“The best way for you to lose unwanted body fat is by just simply walking, it doesn’t have to be high intensity or uphill… Just simply walking an hour a day,” she said.

Gunnar said losing weight is not just a physical challenge, but a mental one.

“I think it’s fortifying it, right? You get through certain things that are arduous and then you recognise: ‘Wow, I did that. And I can do that. And I can keep on doing that,” he said.

Rebel commented on her mindset in 2020, admitting she was an “emotional eater.”

“I’m a bit of an emotional eater so I’ve been trying to work on my mind, listen to a lot of podcasts about it, and trying to learn and grow,” she told NOVA’s Fitzy and Wippa.

“Because it is half in your mind as well.

“It’s been going well though, hopefully, by the end of this pandemic I’ll be ripped!”

Gunnar said of Rebel’s diet: “Alongside working out, Rebel decided to avoid sugar and junk food and followed the Mayr Method.”

The Mayr Method has the following guidelines:

Although this may seem strict, Rebel herself has told her Instagram followers she has one to two cheat nights a week.

“Remember though girls, you still gotta treat yourself (I just do it with food now only once or twice a week… and substitute bubble baths on alternate nights),” she captioned a video of her eating a tart.
