Married At First Sight Australia’s Elizabeth Sobinoff has transformed her figure after her groom made cutting remarks about her body on their big day.

The reality TV personality, 29, appeared on series six of the looking for love show and was matched up with model Sam Ball.

And when she watched the series back she was horrified to hear Sam making comments about her body – which prompted her to lose nearly two stone.

In scenes aired on the Down Under series, Sam body-shamed Elizabeth as he told the camera crew that he “never dated a girl as big as her”.

Since the show, in which Sam and Elizabeth did not make it far in the experiment, Elizabeth has been doing the 5:2 diet and hitting the gym.

Elizabeth’s new diet means she eats under 600 calories on two consecutive days a week.

Last year, Elizabeth told WHO magazine that she does not want to “glorify” being thin.

She explained: “It’s still very much me. I know people are going to say, “Well, you look completely different to how we saw you last year.” But don’t always focus on the outer shell. This has always been me. We grow, as people. I don’t glorify weight [loss] and be like, ‘I’m better now’.”

In May 2019, Elizabeth spoke to 9Honey and shared how her health woes can affect her weight.

During the interview she revealed she suffers from two chronic health conditions: porphyria, a blood disorder, and Lupus.

She said: “I have been quite candid about how when I’m unwell I fluctuate in my weight.”

Elizabeth has appeared on Married At First Sight Australia twice.

On her first stint, the man she was matched with – Sam Ball – cheated on her with another bride, Ines Basic.

She then returned to the show last year and was paired with Seb Guilhaus.

Elizabeth and Seb dated for a year after the series wrapped but then split in January 2021.

In a joint statement, they said: “We have mutually decided to end our relationship as boyfriend and girlfriend.

“We want to thank everyone for the endless support we have received on our platforms. Please be kind and respectful.

“We are aware you have followed parts of our journey, but please remember we are real people, and we are both navigating our way through this time to the best of our abilities.”

They added: “It is still fresh for us both, we just know there has been some curiosity as we have shared parts of our relationship online and we met on national television.

“We are both respectful of each other and are still involved in each other’s lives. We both have cherished each other and have grown together. We would like to send love and well wishes to all.”
