HOLLYWOOD actor John Goodman looked unrecognisable as walked the red carpet after losing 14st.
He hit 28st in 2007[/caption]
John famously played Fred Flintstone in 1994s’ The Flintstones, with roles in Steven Spielberg film Arachnophobia.
Actor John also earnt an Emmy in 2007 for Outstanding Guest Actor on Studio 60.
But he became concerned about his weight in the same year after hitting the size of a sumo wrestler.
After losing weight over the last 14 years, John stepped out to celebrate HBO series The Righteous Gemstone at the 62nd Monte Carlo film festival.
He showed off his physique in a tailored suit jacket and beige trousers.
He said: “In the old days, I would take three months out, lose 60 or 70 pounds, and then reward myself with a six-pack or whatever and just go back to my old habits.”
Along with the doctor’s orders, the actor revealed that his self esteem had hit rock bottom and he knew it was time to make a change.
He admitted: “I just got tired, sick and tired of looking at myself. You’re shaving in the mirror and you don’t want to look at yourself. It gets dangerous.”
John also switched to a Mediterranean-style meal plan, eating fish and meats, vegetables and olive oil.
